TZN: What about things like Zuko being descended from Avatar Roku?

DIMARTINO: Stuff like that came up more as we developed the storylines and things like that. We certainly hadn't figured out every nuance and every detail of the story.

BRYAN KONIETZKO: The writing staff contributed a lot and helped flesh out a lot of that stuff.

Prince ZukoDIMARTINO: Yeah, because when you're writing for 60 episodes, the story ideas we had at first probably made up, like, less than a third of that. That's why you kind of had to build the story. Like, Zuko, we knew, would join the group, but we didn't know exactly when that was going to happen. It turned out to be much later than we had initially thought.

TZN: Does that mean you faked out yourselves with that whole season two finale?

KONIETZKO: No, no not really.

DIMARTINO: By that point, we knew that if he was going to join them, he had to go really bad first, and tick off a lot of people (laughs).

KONIETZKO: It was always our intention to give him the biggest character arc. He had to go through the most change.

what does that mean? NOTHING in the storyline was set.. things kept changing. Especially interesting is.. they gave ZUKO the most importance in the story.. in terms of development and background.

wasn't it supposed to be ALL about Aang? Main hero someone said?
apparently... not.

TZN: What was the biggest element to the show that you hadn't envisioned when you started it?

TophKONIETZKO: Toph being a girl, probably (both laugh). She was going to be a big, muscular guy, which is why that joke from the panel is funny to us (referring to the upcoming "The Ember Island Players" episode -- ed). In fact, the guy in the opening title sequence, the Earthbender, was kind of a prototype of Toph, but Aaron Ehasz, the head writer, just really pitched that she should be a girl. And actually, I fought it for a long time, but I totally came on board, and now she's one of my favorite characters. Once I was on-board, Mike and I came up with this idea that she was beating up all these big wrestler-type guys, and now I love her. I love that she's just a tiny, 12-year old girl that kicks butt.

DIMARTINO: And I never would have thought that the potential Katara/Zuko romance was going to be so ... you know, so big for people? Because honestly, that wasn't our intention from the start (laughs).

KONIETZKO: We knew about it...

DIMARTINO: We knew there would be some tension, but it wasn't like we were going to play that up too much, so it's cool to see people getting into that romance stuff.

KONIETZKO: I think we've met some people where when he has her necklace in episode 109, people were like, "Oh, they're going to get together." (laughs) We were like, "Whoa! You guys are jumping ahead!" But, whatever...people see what they want to see.

if anything.. this tells us Zutara is canon.
why?

Well 1) they brought up Zutara as being a BIG element they had NOT foreseen.. but... it was something small that they were going to possibly mess with a bit. HOWEVER.. it TURNED big.. and is a BIG element.

Come on people.

If toph was GOING to be a boy.. .. they MADE her a girl.. even if thats not what they started with.
why can't the same be fore Zutara?

they said they WEREN'T going to play it up too much.
watch the tense. PAST participle.
meaning... they ARE now. they ARE considering it as a real canon ship, full of potential. And equally subject to change as Toph's gender was.

and 2) they said we were JUMPING AHEAD.
meaning....

THERE WAS going to be Zutara no matter what.. just we were jumping too ahead, too fast .. with 109. before they could even PLANT the other subtle Zutarian symbols, plot devices, signs. we were.. going too fast... we needed to slow down and smell the lovely roses they were planting for those of us who are OBSERVANT.

it's gonna happen people.

i just have a feeling .. it will.

HERES what I think they meant when they said that :

i think they meant we were jumping ahead for those of us who used JUST that one scene from that episode to justify zutara.. and not the other stuff that would probably help explain it. as in some people supported the ship based on something they hadn't intended to be indicative of zutara.. they didnt mean the other actual stuff they DID put in to support zutara .
i hope that made sense?








I showed up at 10 am. And there were a few cosplayers around. A sokka was sitting there, showing some of his fave zutara, tokka pieces. lol.. some were mine.. but he had no idea whho i was
about an hour or so later.. and showed up !!! (looking FUCKAWESOME!) omg.. it was awesome to see em!!! And also with them was.. the awesome (pester him to post his art.. cos its awesome as fuck .. and Kevin if you don't upload em.. i'll upload the little thinger you drew for me ) .. also met up with the awesome and

anyways.. after standing in line, and like having force me to draw to show i fail at it (and having people stare at me when i draw T____T ... but hey she gave me all her linearts so i aint complaining !) anyways... after that.. we finally got into the room. we sat , , and moi. ( a man and his kids ssat next to me..on my right.. poor them ) .. Erica was SPAZZING when they said they had tech difficulities and on first spotting mike and brian .. i like fangasmed. anyways... finally they dimmed the room.. and..

IT aired.

and..

was it fucking glorious.

They started off with scenes from WAT, and FBM at which point i distinctly heard Erica mutter threats under her breath.. and then.. FWOOM. Aang and Zuko firebending.... Aang MOVING in on kissing Katara.. amd HER BACKING OFF ( that scream of YES at her backing off.. would be me..) and the following yesses when Katara runs into Zuko's arms... would be me and erica jumping up and down screaming yes ... anyways .. the trailer was epic.. Zutara instances followed and.. took our breath away.

Zuko Katara in ninja gear fighting old fire nation woman? ( who.. worries me.. cos.. she looks like Ursa.. cos of her hairdo.... ) ... then the scene where Katara reaches out and catches him ( which i guess follows the scene in which Zuko was falling in the mist ... see i missed that part the first time.. so i was worried Zuko was dead ) ... then JUN KICKING ASS... followed by lotsa Boiling Rock clips.. where Suki and the rest were fighting and sheet . thhat one instance where kataras all concentrating on her hand.. looked like bloodbendingy to me.. dont know why.... then rotating around Aang... THEN KATARA AND ZUKO teamworking NINJASTYLE!!! with her making ice for him over a lake ... and then .. Azula breaking her mom's image in the mirror.. (which is interesting.. cos last podcast i pointed out how it would be awesome if the only reason Azula stops short of killing Zuko is if ursa showed up in front of her..)... was that azula with her hair down looking hot and evil in green?... and OH Zuko/Katara praciting together ...which.. reminded me of tui and la circle each other XDDDDDDDD....then that scene of mai meaning business... lots of fighting and stuff...and ozai... looking HAWT... and .. okay who thinks aang's big head will save the world? XDDDD

so by the end of it.. me erica riza and dramaelfie group glomped.

and then....
after the panel..........
me,riza,kevin, erica were outside the panel room chillspazzing.. so mike and bryan walk out.. and i see them heading OUR WAY... they stopped to play with Kevin's aang puppet (who kept trying to get my love and hug ALL day )... and like.. i was like.. shaking... an like.. was "hey can i take a picture of you guys?" They smiled and went "sure!" and posed for me... .... i daid.

and then erica was like ME TOO! .. but her hands were shaking.. and lol they go "Woah now.. breathe... XD or you'll have to use the motion blur button" ...

anywhoo... then we got in line.. and.. i felt bad cos my jaan wasnt there and i missed him ALL DAY.. so..
i whipped out a poster that i had wanted for myself and decided to have it signed by mike and brian. for him.
and the lady up front gave me another, not so cool one.. which i got signed for me

so after standing in line for 1 hour... i was like.. "hey can you guys sign one for my boyfriend? he REALLY loves your show and couldn't be here.."
Mike smiles and goes "of course!"


Sweet guys. I totally fangasmed at Bryan and sputtered liek woah.. he lol'ed

while im happy with what i saw.. and fangasmed.. i'll still be a bit wary.. ... simply cos.. they could be messing with us.. (i fucking hope not)
